  • We had a trip to KumSan, DaeJeon at Nov.

  • We had one day trip to the universal studio before attending the SIGGRAPH 10 held at LA.


  • Jae-Pil Heo presented a talk on Fracturing-Aware Stable Collision Detection at SCA 2010, held between July-2 and Julyt-4 in Madrid.


  • July: Pio Claudio received Korean Government Scholarship. He will be supported up to four years.

  • Our RACBVHs won 3rd place in 2010 ACM Student Research Competition Grand Finals. TaeJoon received the award. Prof. Whang is awarded as ACM fellow at the ACM Award banquet.


  • June: Two URP proposals related to our lab are accepted.


  • Two new students, JongHyup Lee and JongHwan Lee, joined our lab. JongHwan was in Prof. Shin group before.

  • Duksu got the best award from a domestic NVIDIA CUDA programming contest based on his hybrid parallel continuous collision detection method that utilizes CPUs and GPUs. As a supplementar award, he received about USD 3K, 3 M Won.


  • YongYoung graduated with M.S. degree at Feb. 2010. He will do the 2-year military service at DongYang systems.

  • Our research results were appeared at KAIST Times (Dec. 2, 2009).


  • Our work of HPCCD, Hybrid Parallel Continouous Collision Detection, won a distinguished paper award at Pacific Graphics 09

  • Prof. Steve Marschner, professor at Cornell Univ., visited our lab and gave a talk on his research on Oct-6.



  • JongYun's proposal has been accepted from KOSAF and he will receive a scholarship for one year.

  • Our RACBVHs won 1st place in ACM SIGGRAPH 2009 Student Research Competition (SRC, sponsored by Microsoft Research) and advanced to the SRC Grand Finals.




  • Our lab hosted the physics project workshop on Aug-28.




    Also, Prof. Miguel Otaduy gave a talk on his recent research.

  • TaeJoon Kim presented a talk on his recent IEEE TVCG paper of random-accessible compressed BVHs at SIGGRAPH 2009, held between August-3 and August-7.

  • Three posters of our recent work were presented at High Performance Graphics 2009.

  • BoChang Moon, Tae-joon Kim and Yongyoung Byun attended Eurographics Symposium on Rendering 2009, held between June-29 and July-1, at Girona.

  • Two new students, Jong yun Jung and JiEun Lee, joined our lab at Apr.

  • We released an open-source library, OpenCCD, for continuous collision detection for dynamic and deforming models at Mar.

  • PCCD: Parallel Continous Collision Detection
    Duksu Kim, Jae-Pil Heo, and Sung-Eui Yoon.
    Our PCCD method was presented to ACM Symposium on Interactive 3D Graphics and Games 2009 as an invited poster.


  • Duksu Kim got a student stipend award from ACM Symposium on Interactive 3D Graphics and Games 2009.

  • Our research proposal, Interactive Global Illumination of Massive e-Heritage Data, is accepted from Microsoft Research Asia. This project will be conducted in this year and receive USD 20K.
  • 2008

  • Our research proposal, random-accessible compressed data representations and their applications to computer graphics, visualization, and robotics, to Korea Research Foundation is accepted. This project will be performed for 3 years start from the year of 2008. Its annual funding support is approximately 30M won (30K USD) per year.
  • Interactive Continuous Collision Detection between Deformable Models using Connectivity-Based Culling
    Min Tang, Sean Cutis, Sung-Eui Yoon, and Dinesh Manocha
    This paper is invited to a special issue of IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics as selected papers from ACM Symp. on Solid and Physical Modeling

  • Prof. Yoon presented a talk on random-accessible compressed meshes at Korea Computer Graphics Society (KCGS), held between July-7 and July-9, at Jeju island.
